I'm sure everyone already knows about this but I ran across this wonderful yahoo blog group called freecycle. The entire group (and there is one for almost every area around the metroplex) is about giving things to anyone who can use it. It's just how I operate. I LOVE THIS GROUP. Please check it out, if you haven't. It could be a great help to those that Sharing Life helps as well. There's everything on there from groceries to furniture to clothing to just everything.

I have had the privilege of contributing financially to Sharing Life Community Outreach over the past five years. One of the greatest things about this organization is how faithful the staff and volunteers are about giving a good value for the donated dollar. When it comes to stretching you dollar's value the "Super Shopper" volunteers can do incredible things. Of course you can ask for a breakdown of how much of each dollar donated goes to the client versus administration and that information will cheerfully be provided to you. I encourage you to do that very thing. If you have any doubts about donating, you should pay them a visit during operating hours and see for yourself what your dollar pays for. These people are amazing and so is the service they provide. As my sister says, this kind of organization helps people "where the rubber meets the road" Please consider donating to the general funds periodically so this fine organization can pay their bills to keep the doors open and keep their arms open.

THANKS TO ALL THE CHURCHES WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE 2008 SOUPER BOWL OF CARING!
Yesterday was a wonderful day for Sharing Life and other food pantrys across the nation. Thank you for dropping a donation into the "bowls & pans" as they crossed your pew. These coins and dollars will help us feed hungry people in the days to come.

We are in the midst of a 3 month capital campaign to raise $10,000. See the letter below to learn how you can join us in SHARING THE SOLUTION!

Hello Volunteers!

Thank you for such an outstanding job in 2007! You are the life of this organization and I am deeply grateful for all you do. I know that we would not survive without your generous gifts of time and talents.
I know you are aware that the first quarter of the New Year tends to be financially tough for us at Sharing Life. 2008 has proven no different…yet. You can help us overcome this problem by joining me in our first capital campaign for 2008, Sharing the Solution. By the end of the first quarter of 2008, if we meet our goal, together we will have raised $10,000.00. These funds should be additional, above any other normal gifts given. We desperately need to increase our income for operating expenses. Monies raised will be used to pay Sharing Life’s bills; i.e. rent, utilities, operating expenses and The North Texas Food Bank. I am continually writing grants and speaking to churches and service groups. The money received from these endeavors almost always must be spent on direct client services and programs, yet without capital for operations, we cannot function to implement these critical client services. It is the universal problem among all non profit and church organizations.
My challenge to you is this:
Sharing Life Board & Volunteers will raise $10,000.00 in the first quarter of 2008.
That means 100 people giving $100.00 above any other donations they may already be giving to Sharing Life.
This will mean that the 50 of us who already regularly give of our time and money to Sharing Life will give $100, if possible, and ask someone else who is NOT already a Sharing Life donor to do the same. Or you can ask 2 people to give $100 each.
This can be accomplished easily by either making a one time gift or sending $33.00 each month in January, February and March. All payments should be sent to Sharing Life at the address listed on this stationary and be marked Sharing the Solution.
I realize not everyone can participate in this campaign. But everyone knows someone who would be willing to give to this worthy cause. Please ask!
Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart and Happy New Year!

Serving together,
Teresa Jackson
Executive Director
